.......for a taste of the real France!

“LAMOURACHE”  is the name given to an entire tiny hamlet dating from the 1800s. Reached by a small private lane which serves only five houses in total, (three of which are named Lamourache) the house and gardens are in a quiet, peaceful setting, providing a totally relaxing environment for adults seeking an escape, and a safe place for children to play.

Our authentic 160-year-old French farmhouse and its barn have been sympathetically converted and restored, intentionally retaining lots of rustic charm. It still keeps its original immensely thick walls and relatively small windows, both designed (successfully) to keep the house cool in summer and warm in winter. The property stands on a total plot of just under two acres including vines, fruit trees, lawns and a large meadow. All our gardens are sunny and south-facing.

Lot et Garonne is world famous for its prunes and in early spring the pale, delicate plum blossoms appear to drift through the dark, leafless branches like a soft mist.

The private high quality swimming pool (9m x 4.5m), set in a sheltered, paved, landscaped & terraced surround, is fenced to comply with French safety legislations. Poolside chairs & sun-loungers are provided, as is a gazebo, providing welcome shade for the fairer skinned. The terraces are solar-lit at night, but the gazebo area has electric lamps, on a timer, allowing a romantic meal or late night swim . Elsewhere there is a large charcoal BBQ and numerous out-door tables & chairs. What could be nicer than dining at a table set out under the stars? On a clear summer's night, & no light pollution to dilute the effect, the view of the Milky Way in the night sky above Lamourache is truly awesome! Summer also brings lots of shooting stars (make a wish to return!)

Our lovely old stone house also enjoys a peaceful elevated setting above the medieval bastide village of Lèvignac-de-Guyenne, with opportunities to savour fabulous 360° panoramic views over vineyards, plum orchards, and hectares of maize and tournesols (sunflowers). Feel free to zoom in on the photo above.

All three bedrooms are very airy and spacious (min. 25 sq. metres each) and the barn-conversion lounge is a massive 72 square metres with exposed stonework, soaring original oak beams, a vaulted double-height ceiling with exposed “charpenterie”, cool tiles, comfy chairs and soft rugs. It really does have the WOW factor!

As well as all the usual concièrge services, we can also offer you an optional mid-stay laundry-change and cleaning, and an end of stay cleaning service should you have health issues or need to leave early to catch a plane. These can be reserved in advance but are paid for locally, directly to the concièrge. Cleaning is 15€ per hour and laundry is charged per person. Please speak directly to the concierge if you would like to avail yourself.

Less than 100 yards away there is also a small, English-run restaurant - Restaurant Nostalg'Air - which has a 1940s Aviation theme and offers both French and English Menus, including Vegetarian options (Vegan by prior arrangement) and a Sunday Lunch. During the summer months they serve a fixed price lunchtime menu as well as their evening fare.
