With its original quarry-tiled floor and beamed ceiling, the delightful ground floor bedroom, shown below, is the oldest, and would at one time have been the only, bedroom in the house, shared by all the family. Two steps up from the kitchen/breakfast room, and offering space for three, it is furnished with a romantic king-size four-poster bed with memory foam mattress, a delightful metal framed day bed, large wardrobe, armoire, chests of drawers & dressing table. It has a south-facing window which over-looks the garden and offers a glimpse through the gates to the fields & meadows beyond. There is currently a delightful, authentic Art Nouveau coal stove for use during the winter months and a TV/DVD Player is provided should you wish to bring some films with you.
The ground floor 4-Poster bedroom is 5m x 5m. Its original handmade floor tiles keep it cool in summer
Up the open plan stairs in the lounge is the converted grenier (attic) and the first of the upstairs bedrooms. It has an airy vaulted ceiling and, having the “lowest” of the beams, (as it is up two steps from the landing), has been arranged as a family room with comforts for both adults and children in mind. There is currently a double bed with memory foam mattress, a single bed and a little Junior bed (for under 150cms in height), a wardrobe, chests of drawers and a dressing-table. The window is south-facing, overlooking the garden, and being situated almost at floor level, has safety bars fitted. (This room, like all the bedrooms, has a purpose-made mosquito screen which, once fitted to the window, enables it to safely be left open all night - a real boon in hot weather) A large TV/Blu-ray player is wall-mounted in this room, and this also be, with adult supervision, connected up to your X-Box/Play-station, as well as used to watch films. You will find that there are also a number of children's books, games and Disney-type videos, and we supply a small portable TV/Video player to watch them on.
The 5m x 5m family room can sleep four (+ cots) and is very spacious.
The second attic bedroom, also with vaulted ceiling, has ‘higher’ central beams (the lowest part towards the sides being about 5’6”). As it is the master bedroom, it contains a king-size bed with memory foam mattress, wardrobe, chests of drawers, dressing table and a comfortable chaise longue. A bidet and wash-basin with illuminated mirror give additional privacy for washing and tooth-brushing. A small wall-mounted TV/DVD player is provided, allowing you to bring a few films with you for late-night relaxation.
This room is twin aspect, with a small window looking southwards over the gardens and fields, whilst westwards there are sweeping views of 5km or more (see winter photo in the Album). In the evening this room glows a beautiful golden-red with the rays of the setting sun.
As this is actually our ‘home’ in France you may well find that it has a few quirky personal touches and more ‘home comforts’ than the usual holiday cottage and all of our guests have commented favourably on this welcoming aspect of the property.
The master bedroom has a king-size bed, and a curtained off en-suite wash-basin & bidet (shown below).
